Early Years Program / Community Playgroup Facilitator

We are seeking an experienced early childhood education and care professional for this full-time position to facilitate the Early Years Program in Warakurna, near the WA/NT Border region.

The Shire’s Early Years Program provides innovative and successful early learning environments for children and their parents / family adults in the remote indigenous communities across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands. The Ngaanyatjarraku Early Years Program is a long-running program that is operating playgroups in a number of communities. Playgroups, where children ‘play to get ready for school’,  are the chosen early learning environments for these communities.  The value and effectiveness of these rich, family centred environments is evident in the lives of children, families and communities and provide a strong foundation for the children’s future learning and development.

Located at Warakurna community in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands, the successful applicant will facilitate effective and excellent early learning environments / playgroups for children and their families. The successful applicant will run Playgroup sessions in Warakurna and one other agreed Ngaanyatjarra community.

The successful applicant will work as part of a team that is spread across a number of communities, with on-the-job support and training available through the Shire staff. Working in this program with the children and families in this remote Indigenous environment will be an enriching and rewarding experience for the successful applicant.

The position is initially for term 4 (October 8th - December 13th 2018), with the possibility of a fulltime position commencing in February 2019 for the right applicant.
