Unlike many paintings, Freda Lane has made this Artwork with a beautiful and colourful background that gives life and authenticity to this painting.
Narelle was born in 1953 near Wanarn at a place in the bush where there are 2 rockholes together called Tjulurn and Mungakatu. She grew up in the bush before moving to Warburton and attending the Warburton Mission primary school. Narelle attended high school first at Norseman Mission and later at Esperance Mission School. After her school education, Narelle worked in various places throughout Western Australia as a domestic worker and childcare worker. Eventually, she moved to Papulankutja (Blackstone) and worked at the Woman's Centre where she was responsible for catering and cooking. Working for Papulankutja Artists is where Narelle first started to paint (1993). Narelle now lives in Mantamaru (Jameson) in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands and works at the Woman's Centre there, catering, cooking and working as an Art's Worker assisting with the Papulankutja Artists outreach program in Jameson.
