FINANCE COORDINATOR
Permanent | Fulltime | Remote
The Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Coordinator to join our team in a remote capacity. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in managing the Shire’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial tasks.
About the Role
- Coordinate and process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, receipts, credit notes, and grant invoices.
- Manage payroll processing, superannuation payments, STP submissions, and maintain employee records.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card transactions, and manage the asset and investment registers.
- Reconcile rates ledgers to the general ledger and process related refunds or claims.
- Manage debtor and creditor ledgers, including generating reports and following up overdue accounts, issuing reminder notices, and liaising with debt collection agencies when required.
- Support month-end reconciliation and financial reporting processes.
- Prepare financial statements, compliance reports, and ensure accurate BAS and PAYG submissions, and payroll tax filings.
- Ensure all financial transactions and reporting comply with relevant legislation and standards.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to streamline financial workflows.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless financial operations across all departments.
About You
- Relevant experience in Local Government finance, accounting and day-to-day finance tasks.
- Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
- In-depth understanding of financial reporting, tax compliance, and payroll processes.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills and experience with corporate financial systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate in a remote work environment, negotiate effectively, and resolve issues.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently, manage tasks working remote, and contribute positively within a team setting.

BUILDING/PROPERTY MAINTENANCE OFFICER

The Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku is looking for a skilled and reliable Building/Property Maintenance Officer (BMO). This is a job share position where you will be working on an opposite 2 weeks on 2 weeks off roster with our current BMO.
Based in Warburton, this role offers a unique opportunity to experience life in a remote but vibrant community in Western Australia’s Central Desert.
About the Role
As our Building/Property Maintenance Officer, you will:
- Conduct general building maintenance, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and grounds upkeep
- Collect and transport all waste materials from residential and commercial properties
- Operate waste collection vehicles, including manual lifting, driving, and emptying bins
- Assist with the development of property maintenance programs
- Source quotations for works and liaise with contractors in remote locations
- Provide technical support and assistance with Shire assets
- Support operational services as required.
About You
You are a self-motivated, multi-skilled professional who can work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. You will have:
- Proven experience in building and grounds maintenance
- Proven relevant experience in Local Government in a similar discipline desirable
- Previous experience in a similar role working in remote locations (desirable)
- Knowledge of plant and machinery operation and maintenance
- A relevant trade qualification (desirable)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
- A valid Light Rigid (LR) class driver’s licence with outback driving experience.
