The Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku’s Council has endorsed the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer, Mr David Mosel. Mr Mosel had been working with the Shire since August 2022 in the role of General Manager Operations, commencing his new role July 6, 2023.
Shire President, Cr Damien McLean was delighted for his Council and community with the appointment of Mr Mosel given the continuity to business operations he will provide.
“David brings over 17 years of extensive experience in Local Government Executive Leadership having previously held roles of Chief Executive Officer, General Manager Operations and Director Infrastructure & Assets,” he said.
“David’s vast experience in financial management, including long-term financial planning, asset and infrastructure management including road funding programs were all important considerations in our decision making.
David’s strong track record in community engagement and building positive relationships with key stakeholders and aboriginal communities,” Mr McLean added.
Cr McLean also thanked Mr Kevin Hannagan for his leadership as CEO in his time with the Shire. “Kevin has taken on the many unique challenges faced by our community, leaving the Shire in a much more sustainable and robust environment than when he arrived. We wish Kevin well in his retirement.”
Mr Mosel said he was looking forward to the opportunity and motivated by a strong sense of social equity. “I will bring high energy and look to bring out the best in our staff and interact effectively with the Council, government agencies, private businesses and community organisations,” Mr Mosel commented.
The Shire of Njaanyatjarraku is located in the far east of Western Australia, bordering South Australia between the Great Victoria Desert and the Gibson Desert. It is contained with the Ngaanyatjarra Lands, home to the Ngaanyatjarra people.
